We are really pleased with our medal design for the Cheddar Gorge Challenge 2013 medals this year.

The medal ribbons will be hung from the X marks on the above design and the ribbon colours will match the enamelling of each medal. The medals will piece together like a jigsaw to give those who complete the Cheddar Challenge, a very special set of medals indeed!

Sign up for the Challenge, you know you want to ;-)
Skyline 10km Series and Gold Challenge

Skyline 10km

Our winter x-country series is now up and running and it is going to around the beautiful Bath Skyline route. The Skyline walk is a National Trust route which passes along public footpaths and through National Trust land. This is a hilly 10km loop and we are making this into two separate races.

The first races are based at the University of Bath and will be a fun and muddy x-country affair. It will be through fields and forests with great views of Bath and the iconic Sham Castle which over looks Bath;

There is a 10km individual race, 10km team relay, 5km fun run and a 300m fun run, so we have an event for all the family. If this is your first run and are looking for a fun and exciting way to get your training away then the 5km run is a great event for you, or if you are looking for a greater challenge why not try the 10km event.

Gold Challenge

We are now very excited to be listed as a Gold Challenge event. This is an initiative to get people active by setting the challenge to try out new sports and complete 2012km, or 201.2km over the year. If you sign up for our skyline events then you can use it to build up your total distance and get on the way to achieving your target!

Find out more about the Gold Challenge here.

7th August race write up

Another wonderful day was
enjoyed by all at the beautiful National Trust property Dyrham Park.
With 10km, 3km, relay and 300m races there was fun for all levels of
experience.

Runners head off for the first lap up Neptune's Hill.

The 10km was run over a challenging yet stunning course, with winner
Will Christofi leading the field in a rapid time of 37.50 minutes. Lead
woman Georgia Wood defended her victory from the inaugural race by an
impressive two minutes. The runners enjoyed breathtaking views of the
Somerset and Gloucestershire landscape and many even challenged the park
deer to a sprint finish! It was inspiring to see so many ages and
abilities running so a massive congratulations to all those who joined
in both the 10km and 3km. We were delighted to be joined by people from
near and far, including a family all the way from France.

Once again, the 300m was a great event with many kids enjoying the
course and loving receiving their certificates for their
efforts. Impressing was Hywel Denham who set off at a rapid pace but
didn't tire for that all-important sprint finish. He was closely
followed by a troop of up-coming young athletes we have no doubt will be
fantastic runners of the future.

The weather held off to allow the athletes and their families time to
relax and enjoy the jazz concert in the beautiful grounds as a
well-deserved treat.

Mark Smith (238) and David Ponting (225) grabbing some water

We are delighted many runners will be returning on 18th September to
challenge their times on this exciting course. With a spot prize on the
day up-for-grabs of an incredible weekend away for six people at The
National Trust's Clutterbuck House, we'd love to see any new entrants
join us for the final race of this year's series.

Many thanks to all who joined us today and to our sponsors Cytomax and
online retailer Running Home for providing the prizes. And as always,
the wonderful marshalls and the National Trust have been superb in
enabling such a fun-filled family day to be relished by so many.
