What can you expect from the Cheddar Gorge Challenge Events

Really enjoyed the race today! What a stunning place to run! A lot faster course than I thought. Well planned route. See you at the next race!

John Whitmarsh

That was a great run and I really loved the oranges at the end - I've never had that before!
Rebecca Murray

Loved it! I'll be back for more

Fab Friday night fun with Relish Running at South West NT Festival on the Mendips. A super scenic and technical course around Cheddar Gorge with the added bonus of sunset over the levels, hooting owls and a finish in front of the live music stage. Up there for best race of the year.

Just wanted to say thank you to you and all the guys that make the events possible. I took part in the Two Tunnels last month and really enjoyed it, then signed up for the Mini Cheddar Challenge. I did the 5k yesterday and totally underestimated it! Toughest race I’ve ever done and only 5k!

Lots of training for the next race!

Thanks again for all the hard work, much appreciated : )

Congratulations upon organising and delivering an excellent set of races on Sunday.

It was my first participation in a Relish Running Race and I gained a very favourable impression. I thought the course was well designed and well described in your pre race information. Great views and some of the best feeding stations I’ve ever experienced. Please pass on my thanks to your great team of marshals who certainly made the race fun and were very encouraging out on the hills.

David Adam Hunt (Half Marathon 2014)

Another great race. Mini challenge complete and I think only completed because of the top notch feed stations. Jaffa cakes and jelly beans were needed, and to find coca cola on the last feed station was a big hit!

James Perry

5 of us travelled down from Hastings, East Sussex for yesterday's races. 4 did the half and 1 did the marathon. What a hard race!! But bloody brilliant! Excuse the French! Beautiful run, loved the feed stations and especially the scenery. The climb to registration was a killer start but understand why it had to be done! At least it warmed us up! Would love to come back and do it again.

I started relish running last year doing the Cheddar 10k, as part of a charity weekend, just as a one off. I've now clocked up 6 races, with more to come!!! I thoroughly enjoy them and enjoy trail running more than road running.
Thank you for organising and running these events, sports events aren't the easiest things to organise, I know from personal experience. Keep up the good work, it's much appreciated.

Chris Morris

Thanks so much, only my second relish race and you're already my favourite. Great fun, great location, really friendly atmosphere and brilliant marshals. You've converted me from road running!

Angela Kirwin

Another great relish event with the now traditional sunshine.
It was well marshaled & all gave high levels of encouragement, the mini buffets stations were the best!

A lot of races could learn from such organisation. Already looking forward to the next Relish event in September.

Phil Johnson

As with every other Relish running race I've done, excellent! Great route, encouraging marshals and lovely food stations. Thanks to Tom and the team. See you at the next one!

Charlotte Ward

thanks for a brilliant racing experience. 2 hours of blitzing through that spectacular half marathon course with a big grin!!! a great route ,well marshalled and signed with top notch aid/refreshment stations along the way. i'd be tempted to take on the marathon next year

A great friendly atmosphere so unlike the big road race events I normally do. Wonderful course, brilliantly tough in parts...i'll never forget those relentless steps!! Fantastically muddy too...a real positive from our soggy summer! The steep descent through the field near the end allowed for some pretty pacey sprinting which was excellent and my favourite part of all was running through the steam and back up the other side through the woods.

Mark Aston

Really enjoyed the suicidal downhill finishing kilometer!! 10/10

Guy Bradford

The killer steps, they were proper tough, but i just laughed at them and there was nothing they could do to stop me!

Chris Woods

This was my first ever running event, and loved that everyone was friendly and supportive and very welcoming. My wife and 2 year old came to support and there was plenty of company for them with other families supporting too. It almost goes without saying that Cheddar Gorge is such a beautiful place with amazing scenery and views.

Eva Bunting

The Steps were brilliant and the view from the top very much worth it. The down run at the end was a lot of fun.

Emily Simpson

Great atmosphere, well marshalled and friendly.

Philippe Werey

Great views from the registration area, and the build up to the race start was great atmosphere. Pleasantly surprised, as I didn't expect such a tough course, but the choice of course is brilliant, and does the Cheddar Gorges justice. You got to work hard to enjoy this part of the countryside. Really well done, very clever runnable course, with some seriously tough sections! loved it!

Mike Briggs

Lovely people, beautiful landscape, a true challenge

Nicholas Friend

Great mix of terrain and challenging topography. Plenty of drink stations and liked that they all had some snacks. Been to lots of races where there is just water at the majority and it's great to give people options, as you can't always predict how you'll be doing. I am a triathlete and races like this are a great way for me to set real intermediate targets to push myself and train harder. Challenging but still fun. Loved it!

Adam O'Brien

Some of the views were fantastic and at one point running to the Beacon batch there was a horse stood looking rather majestic, felt very outdoorsy!

Peter Murphy

The views and the course was amazing brutally tough running up those hills and through the bog but extremely enjoyable...Love my off road running so def be back...The treats at the drink stations was a nice touch as I have done a lot of races that just provide water...10/10

Mark Wilson

Excellent organisation and marshalling back up, awesome views.

Tim Irish

Spectactular views, great commaderie, cheerful marshalls, well located refreshment points, a vaired mixture of terrain, dirt tracks, rocky tracks, steps, fields, & river beds not one for a PB but definetly a race to test you menatlly and physically

Kate Britten

I loved the event. Best part was being out on the Mendip Hills, I live so close but seem to have to make an excuse to get out on them.

Judith Oakley

The scenery, especially looking down the Gorge was superb. The course was really challenging and testing.

Neale Wood

Makes The Snowdonia Marathon feel like a walk in the park.
You know it's going to be hard when you're tired just getting to the start. Some of the hills are extreme and there are large sections which are very technical even on a nice dry day. Excellent marshalling, and nice medal and momento. For those braving the Challenge of all 3 races the trophy makes all the pain worthwhile.

Davey Green

Good marshalls who were upbeat and supportive. Superb glass trophy for marathon finishers , most unique and much appreciated. Very 'social' run , as hill/trail marathons go, a good reunion for those of us 'on the curcuit'.
Dominic Smallwood

The scenary was really breathtaking particularly some of the descents down the valley (as painful as they were). The marshalls were great proving lots of encouragement and the regular stops/refreshments were essential and well spaced out

Laura Davies

The changes in all the terrain - shady river crossing, open ground, steep climbs, steep descents, narrow paths, challenge of not getting stuck in the bog, animals en route and regular food and drink stops. Happy motivating marshals were great!
